Wireless Encoder Compatibility and Troubleshooting

Question

Which wireless routers and settings are compatible with my encoder?

Answer

Wireless Encoder Compatibility and Troubleshooting

The wireless video encoder supports the 802.11B/G wireless standards and 64/128 bit WEP. 802.11A/N standards are not supported, and no wireless encryption method other than WEP (e.g. WPA) is supported.

The following routers have been tested and found compatible*:

Actiontec GT701-WG

Netgear WPN824 v2

Netgear WGT624 v2

Cameo WLG-2206

Dlink DWL-2100AP

Buffalo WZR-RS-G54

Linksys WRT150N

Linksys WRT54G v8

The following routers have been tested and found incompatible*:

Linksys WRT54G (v7 and older)

Linksys WRT54GS

Linksys WRT54GC

Network Everywhere NWR11B

If you cannot get your encoder to work on your wireless network, please try the following steps:

1.       Verify that the firmware in both the encoder and the router are the latest available

2.       Disable any encryption

3.       Set the router to B/G mix or G if it supports 802.11N

4.       Set the router to a 192.168.X.X IP address

5.       Ensure that DHCP is enabled on the wireless router

6.       Connect the encoder a few feet from the router to rule out signal problems

* Testing was done with an encoder server version of 1.1.0.2. These tests are not all-inclusive; there are many more models that will work and there may be more that do not. If you believe you have discovered a router compatibility issue, please contact technical support.
